Skye and Frida are coming to Ireland!
We are delighted to announce that Skye and Frida will be joining us April 10th – 12th for Galway Lindyfest 2015. They will be joined by Marcos & Lucile and JeongWoo Hong & Crystal Lee for a fun-filled weekend to finish off your Easter break with a swing!
Galway Lindyfest 2015 will provide dancers with a fantastic opportunity to take workshops with some of the world’s most renowned instructors in an intimate environment. Workshop numbers will be strictly limited to give instructors and students more time to engage with each other and to give/receive feedback.
The weekend will also feature fantastic live entertainment, competitions and of course, some amazing instructor demos.
Dancing less than three months. Still coming to terms with the basics steps and movement of Lindy Hop.
Beginners / Intermediate
Dancing less than nine months. You are comfortable with dancing Lindy Hop and enjoy regular social dancing.
No time frame on how long you have been dancing, but you have enjoyed various workshop weekends such as this and are comfortable dancing with other dancers of all levels. You would consider yourself an extremely competent Lindy Hopper.
Balancing a spinning red ball on your nose whilst swinging-out (rhythmically) is no bother at all. You are a scene leader, at the top of your game. You maybe teach, perform, compete or a mixture of all three, and when we said ‘Skye and Frida’, your knees trembled just a little.
Skye and Frida
Skye was first persuaded to dance Lindy Hop by his mother in 1996, and quickly discovered his own love of social dancing, swing music and the Lindy Hop community. This led him to a wider interest in dance and he took classes in ballet, modern, and Jazz. Since 1999 he has taught wherever Lindy Hop is done- from national weekends to international dance camps. He is a founding member of some the most influential modern Lindy Hop troupes- including Minnie’s Moochers, Mad Dog, and the Silver Shadows. Skye has also won titles at all of the major Lindy Hop competitions- including ULHS, ILHC, ALHC and the World Lindy Hop Championships. This involvement with Lindy Hop sparked his wider interest in America’s history and cultural heritage- leading him to pursue American Studies at The George Washington University where he received his master’s degree in 2007. He currently resides in Stockholm Sweden.
Frida Segerdahl is among the most sought after dancers and instructors in the world. Coming all the way from Sweden, Frida will blow you away with her musicality, unique and unpredictable styling, energetic solo dancing and skills.
When 15 years old Frida attended Herrang Dance Camp and fell in love with Lindy Hop. Frida excelled quickly, drawing on her knowledge of body movement and connection that she had mastered studying jazz, modern dance, ballet and much more in other dances. In no time, she was asked to join the world’s foremost jazz dance company, the Rhythm Hot Shots. She has performed and taught at all ends of the world. In addition to her performance skill, many have rated Frida as one of the best social dancers in the world. Besides her amazing skills in Charleston, Lindy Hop and Jazz Dance, Frida is still a member of the Harlem Hot Shots and now runs the famous Lindy Hop dance camp that she first attended back when she was 15, The Herrang Dance Camp in Sweden.
