Michael and Evita
Evita and Michael are International Lindy Hop performers and instructors based in New York City. They bring an exuberant energy and joy to every project, whether it’s teaching Swing classes worldwide or performing in renowned theatres. Their combined resumes span the globe from Dubai to the UK, Sweden to Australia!
Currently, the two teach regular classes at Dance Manhattan and continue to travel the world. As dance teachers, Michael and Evita emphasize anatomy and efficient use of the body. Connecting movements with an elegant flow, clearly projecting direction through the body, and romantic personal interactions are what create their lead and follow technique. Above all other descriptions, one will surely say that Michael and Evita are inspiring to watch and possess a warm welcome to any student of Lindy Hop.
David moved to Bristol in the summer of 2009 and then set up Swing Dance Bristol to develop the swing dance scene in the city. He aims to bring new dancers in to the scene, to run fantastic club nights, and to develop the level of dancing in the city.
He has been teaching lindyhop and blues for around 10 years in the UK and elsewhere in Europe. He was one of the founders of the London Lindy Exchange, the London Balboa Festival, and Blues Revolution (which created the London blues scene), and then founded Swing Dance Bristol. Before his overnight conversion to lindy hop & blues many years ago, he had a background in contemporary dance which taught him how to use and be in control of the dancer’s weight and centre and was a perfect preparation for partner dancing.
Level 1: Just recently started dancing. You have taken some Lindy Hop and Charleston classes but are still coming to grips with the basics. Social dancing is still a challenge for you.
Level 2: You are very confident dancing Lindy Hop and Charleston. Your dancing experience is measured in years rather than months and you are a regular social dancer.
Level 3: You are master of your chosen dance style. Terms like stretch and contract, body matching and rhythm hum a familiar tune. You have attended multiple swing dancing workshops in the past and are a well known social dancer in your local scene.
